These photos were taken on Saturday, September 10, 2016. The SSA has “pan parag problems” on its agenda, but it’s so busy planning kids’ festivals with our useless Chamber of Commerce that it doesn’t have time to tell people that spitting all over our streets is not just rude, it’s unsanitary.
- Dead plants left beneath a tree by store owner.
- Why not make the sidewalk even narrower?
- Outside a restaurant.
- This isn’t blood, it’s pan parag, a preparation containing betel leaf and sometimes tobacco which is chewed and then spit out. It stains most of the sidewalks between Western and California.
- How do you like the new sit-and-spit seating?
- This sit-and-spit seating is among the worst on the street.
- Thanks for the beautiful planters.
- And thanks again.
- No better place for food garbage than under a tree outside a store?
- There’s not supposed to be any parking in the construction zone, but this guy doesn’t care.
- This guy doesn’t care either. And both of them are blocking a bus stop.
- This is what happens when vehicles push pedestrian platforms out of the way in order to park.
- Platform is unsafe for pedestrians at both ends.
- Pan parag leaves stains on the new sidewalks.
- Do these pigs put their garbage in their houseplants at home?
- Outside another restaurant. Passers-by use construction pits for garbage.
- crates dumped on a corner.
- Pigeon poop and garbage outside a grocery store.
The photos below were taken shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21.
- Open trash pit on a side street on the south side of Devon.
- Another Devon trash pit.
- Dirty seating area.
- Food garbage tossed on sidewalk.
- Residents continue to dump household trash on Devon. This mess appeared after the cans had been emptied in the morning.
- This trash pit is behind a seating area.
- New street lighting, new tree, same old garbage.
- Once the garbage is emptied, this will be a planter. Then the garbage will go on top of the plants.
- There are no words to describe this filth deposited by visitors, businesses, and residents.
- Devon & Talman. This supermarket routinely deposits skids on and around the planter and behind the bench.
- This garbage is below a take-out window.
All photos taken Sunday morning, August 23, before 9 a.m. The orange-fenced pits had been cleaned for the India Day parade the previous Saturday, but just look at them now. Clean for tourists, filthy for residents.
