Sunday, September 30, 8:00 – 8:45 a.m.   Bird Walk.                                               Indian Boundary Park Cultural Center,       2500 West Lunt

Time to enjoy a 45-minute walk through the park with Dave Willard of the Chicago Audubon Society. Then join him in “a discussion of all things avian: the impact of tall buildings downtown on the bird population; bird migration through and above Chicago; innovations in window glass that prevent headlong crashes; bird reactions to bright lights and big cities; and the occasional dead bird brought in for identification.”

“Coffee and breakfast sweets will be provided before and after the walk. Don’t forget to bring binoculars or your camera.”

The event is free.

  1. Hi, Paco! Your neighbor Jess Mahoney here. I am wondering if you know when the next CAPS 2412 meeting will be. I found an old post of yours on EveryBlock naming “Avy” as the faciliator, but I couldn’t use the email you provided. Thanks for starting this site! While I don’t always share your viewpoint, I deeply appreciate your civic-minded attitude. I hope you will continue this work, as you said, for all of our kids.

    • Hi, Jess Thanks for the info on the CAPS meeting. I added to the Events page. That address has changed and I’ll be checking with CAPS on Tuesday to get current info. I appreciate the reminder.

And thank you for the kind words. I’ve not been as active on 50thWardFollies as before because I’ve started a community group, POWR (People of West Ridge) NFP, and have been focusing on all the necessary paperwork and administrative details to get the group launched and begin a membership drive. Research on a couple of neighborhood issues that I want to report on for 50thWardFollies has taken more time than anticipated, so I really appreciate the fact that you took the time to visit and to provide important info for the site. I learn more from people who disagree than those who think I’m right, so please feel free to comment anytime!
